The food was pretty good and the service was good too! Can't beat $2 burgers and half price appetizers, but the main reason I'm giving it a 5 star is portion size!!! They are not greedy on their portions, love it!!!

We were in Des Moines for a wedding and were staying across the street at the Drury Inn. Since we had no vehicle, Cowboy Jack's ended up seeing a lot of us that weekend since it was the only bar we could see from the hotel. Standard bar with decent food options. My favorite part was they had a Bloody Mary bar on Saturday and Sunday where you could add your own toppings.I love when places do that and this bloody mix was pretty good! Another one of my favorite items were their french fries - sooo good and fresh! All in all a decent spot but nothing to rave about. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here.

I had high hopes for Cowboy Jacks. I have eaten there 5-6 times over the last 6 months and almost always walk away disappointed. Mediocre food and service, a little on the expensive side for what you get. I don't like their 'cowboy jacks' bbq sauce and it seems to be slathered on about 1/2 the menu items. Even though I stay at the hotel across the parking lot almost every week for work, I stopped walking across because it just isn't worth the trouble. On the positive side the decor is nice.

The service here is fantastic. Servers are attentive and truly care about your experience. Unfortunately, the menu doesn't meet their service standard. Everything we tried was HEAVILY excessively salted and the wings were mostly skin and fat; not a lot of meat. We ordered the vegetable flatbread, which was so salty I couldn't even eat the crust. We also ordered the chili garlic wings, which the garlic was barely detectable in and were rubbery at best. The service here is attentive and fantastic; the food quality is questionable. Maybe we just caught them on a bad afternoon?

Had some of the best service here! The country theme can sometimes be an overkill for me when I go to Shot Gun Bettys, but for some reason Cowboy Jacks actually makes it feel like home. It has an awesome patio, cool swings for a table. Such a cool little spot, and has the best happy hour- who can beat $2 everything? Definitely recommend if youre looking for somewhere relaxing, low key, and away from all the drunken idiots. Highly underrated.

I love this place! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and you can't beat their happy hour prices!

Service was painfully slow. Started out okay (hostess was trying to be a waitress since only one on staff who was also the bartender). We were there for two hours and had two drinks - and one we had to go the bar ourselves for. We ordered appetizers that came out in a normal time and then some ordered burgers and we didn't see the waitress for a full half hour. Didn't fill water or get additional drinks. Food was pretty good for bar food. My wine was $9 a glass which seemed excessive but not a big deal. $2 burger night- condiments are .25 and toppings are .50.

The staff was very friendly, fun, and attentive. The food was inexpensive yet very tasty. Some of the lowest prices I have seen in West Des Moines. I went during happy hour and all the appetizers were under $5.00 and very tasty. The manager came by and asked if there was anything special we wanted to watch, nice little touch. The atmosphere was laid back. I highly recommend this place for a good inexpensive food and stiff drinks.

We loved the atmosphere when we walked in. The patio was gorgeous, and our server was so nice. We requested to sit outside, and that's when the disappointment hit. They allow smoking on the patio. Being a non smoker I don't want to smell and taste cigarettes while I'm eating. I didn't think people could smoke on patios anymore, let alone where food is being served. We moved inside, but were still disappointed we couldn't continue our date night on the beautiful patio.

After dirty (plastic!?) glassware and two nasty appetizer plates were brought to the table, I began to get uncomfortable with the idea of dining at Country Jacks. The whole restaurant needs a thorough cleaning. Dust has built up on everything, including the banks of the booths. The staff was nice but slow, and the atmosphere/decor was cool, but I won't be back based on cleanliness alone. Gross.

The host was very nice. The wings were roughly $1.28 per boneless nugget (7 wings at $9), and the cheeseburger was $9 with chips. If you want fries it's 11. There is no lunch menu. I'm ok with paying this price if its quality. This wasn't. The server asked us if we wanted our burger "kinda pink or no pink" like we had never been to a real restaurant before. My boyfriend said "well-done is fine" to which she corrected/confirmed "no pink?" I don't trust a place that sells $26 steaks and cooks them according to their "pinkness". We were one of 3 tables in there and constantly had empty drinks. This is a chain, so I have been to other locations. This one looks much nicer on the inside. I wouldn't go if it wasn't happy hour.

This has been our new go to place after work for my wife and I. Two$ burgers and happy hour is a good night to stop. Burgers, shared fries, beer and tip about $20, nice. Food was good, beer cold. Also in the shell peanuts! Bartenders were great. The only Con Need to bring a saw in to cut the stools down about 3 inches and plastic beer glasses, other than that great addition to the area. In regards to someone posting on yelp about $2 burgers and didn't know that cheese maybe additional charge. Come on....it is a half lb burger for 2.00$. If it wouldn't be so embarrassing, my wife and I would split a burger, they are that big.

Slow Tuesday evening. Sat at the bar. Food: Patty Melt with fries. Rye was stale and toasted to crouton consistency. Ten dollar burger, fries cost an extra two bucks and are standard, crinkle cut, nothing special. Bland overall. Service: Got my beer pretty quickly. No complaints about how long it took to bring out the food. Server asked my opinion of the food and immediately retreated when I responded with "meh". Settled my check quickly. Ambiance: Generic, modern country background music. College basketball on the tubes. Wasn't left with a strong impression of the overall theme as being charming or interesting. Food would have been passable at a roadside diner for half the cost. Can't rate it well at all for what they charge.

This place is awesome. The decor is comfortable, with plenty of Western atmosphere as well as tv's for the sports fan. Our waitress was so good her name was Bree I believe. Quite honestly the whole staff was great. We had 4 or 5 different staff members that came by and asked if all was well or if we needed anything. The only bad thing was they were out of beef ribs when I tried to order them. So next time I better get some. The atmosphere was great and beer awesome! Wife had Ribeye was awesome. I settled for Cowboy Jack burger pretty tasty and plenty big. Looking forward to our next trip out there!!!!!!!

The place looks really neat inside, great atmosphere & decor, but the food was flavorless and extremely bland. My husband had the steak and I had the salmon. We also ordered an adult beverage and the waitress took our license for about 20 minutes "because we are from out of state"; I've never heard of that rule before... We went a second time to give it another try on their $2 burger special night, and the waitress told us that the $2 literally covers just the "patty and bun", everything else was extra; even condiments like mayo cost extra. It wasn't a big deal, I just wish we would've known that before going. But the burger was decent. It seems like it would be a great place to catch a sporting game on TV, they have tons of screens throughout the restaurant!!

I love the atmosphere and design of this restaurant but the experience just doesn't do it justice. Beer served in a plastic glass? No way. Soft, lukewarm fries? No thanks. Service was sub-par, can't imagine a reason to return...

Hated it. Had to ask for service after a 20 minute wait. Food tastes like it was frozen first, beer selection is awful. Will not be coming back.

Great remodel of many former failed restaurants. Lots of money was invested in the western theme. Music was fun and food was delicious! Can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can use the patio next time

Saloon-style country atmosphere, but fortunately not trashy country. There's a "sit down" area with booths and low tables and a bar area with high tops and tvs. The food was pretty good, service was friendly, and happy hour deals were great.

My husband and I went here for dinner and was impressed. The food and service was very good. We. will be back.
